Uccello Rosso Books
These playful paintings are like postcards from an alternate
reality. International bird of mystery, fowl of many faces, Uccello Rosso
takes viewers on weird and wonderful flights of fancy.
—Miles Harvey, author of Painter in a Savage
Land: The Strange Saga of the First European Artist in North America
Like a carefree, saucy “Little Bill,” the light bulb shaped
spokesbird for "cheep" electricity from my youth, Uccello Rosso
seems to be everywhere, illuminating all, whether toasting marshmallows
or orbiting the globe, inhabiting a human body, young or old, male, female,
whether sawn in half, made of snow or butter. DeCoster is a guy who makes
websites like the rest of us make phone calls; if you Google him the first
10 thousand hits are all his own sites! That said, the bird may be like
those robots Superman made of himself, to go out and take care of business
while the man himself was busy saving the world.
— Kevin Riordan, author/artist of Make No Plans
So who is this Uccello Rosso? Every bird? Every wingless red bird who looks
sort of like a lobster or a giant red ant? I don't know. But I do know he's
the best Uccello Rosso ever. I like all these paintings, but my favorite
is BETTER THE BOBBER THAN THE BAIT. Words to live by.
—Peter Hannan, creator of CatDog and Super
Goofballs
Get ready to laugh and be surprised when you open this book of paintings.
Miles DeCoster’s whimsical art is deceptively childlike. On closer
inspection be prepared to be moved by the subversive elements that pervade
this work.
—Martin Lemelman, author and illustrator of Mendel's
Daughter
